10 INHERENT ATTIRES OF INDIA

              India is known for its diversity all over the world. India is rich in its culture, cuisine and ethnicity. All the states of India has a different touch in its hospitality and the way they enhance their clothing culture. When we think about traditional clothing it first reminds us about dhoti, kurta, saree, lehenga, etc. Indians strongly believe in "Atithi Devo Bhava" which means a kind gesture towards guest's. In this blog our center of attention will be about the clothing in different states of India.

 

DESI HARYANA:

The people of Haryana are very simple, humble and down to earth. The same could be said about their attires. They live simple life and their clothing is very simple and straightforward. Females in Haryana prefer to wear long ankle length skirt which is known as daaman pairing it with a shirt of a kurta and an odhani for covering their head. Males in Haryana mostly prefer to wear a white kurta pairing it a dhoti and a pagri (headgear). To magnify the look both men and women wear jutis (shoes). Jutis are commonly made out of leather and jute and are very famous in Haryana.

 

RANGILO RAJASTHAN:

Rajasthan has a royal clothing legacy. It has a royalty in its speech, Ghani khamma is the term referred to welcome the guest's. Rajasthan is a birthplace for variety of prints like laheriya, bandhini, gold and silver khari print, shisha embroidery (Mirror work), Rajasthan patch work, etc. Women’s mostly prefer to wear a long skirt called as ghagra matching it with a kurti and odhani. They prefer to wear bright colors and embroidered clothes. Whereas men's wear dhoti, a kurta and angrakha. They love to wear the pagri or safa which is the symbol of their pride.


JAMMU & KASHMIR:

Jammu and Kashmir is one of the most beautiful place in India. It has a rich culture and tradition which is followed there. The traditional dress of the Kashmir is influenced due to climatically changes. Both men and women wear a loose garment named pheran which is made up of wool. The Hindus belong to Kashmir wear turbans and the Muslims wear skull top.


THE AWESOME ASSAM:

Nomoskar is the commonly spoken salutation. The assamese women wear special kind of saree which is divided into two parts called as mekhela chador. Muga and eri is the most preferred silk by women’s. Men's clothing consist of kurta and dhoti with gumusa a hand woven turban.


LAND OF FESTIVALS NAGALAND:

The customary dress for Naga ladies is the Angami, that which involves a sleeveless top vatchi worn over the slip neikhro and a white skirt femboy. The skirt of the ladies by and large happens to be a bit of material folded over the midriff and stretching out to cover the legs. Naga men’s Angami outfit has a kilt and a wrapper, upgraded by a conventional shawl called the Ratapfe. The kilt circles down to the men’s knee and is generally blue in shading while the shawl is a wonderful shade of red weaved with a few lines.


VIBRANT GUJARAT:

Gujarati women’s wear chaniya choli which consist of a ghagra, a blouse and an odhani. Odhani is called as polku. The ghagra comprises of small pieces of glass which ultimately enhances the beauty of the dress. Men’s wear chorno and kediyu. Kediyu is a kurta which has frills. That is also called as angrakha which means a garment to cover the upper body. Chrono is a dhoti. To complete the look they wear "phento" (head gear). Phento is mostly worn in rural areas. Patola silk is queen of all the silks. Gujaratis have its own sweetness may it be in speech (kem cho ?) Or in their food (jalebi, fafda, undhiyu, khichiya, etc.)

 

THE SOUL OF INCREDIBLE INDIA ORISSA:

Ever wonder where did the fashion of fringe come in? Orissa! Yes Orissa has its own style to wear fringe. Dhardia is a saree along with katak and sambalpuri. Saree cover the chest and are free going over the other shoulder.  Mostly women prefer to wear saree then a salwar suit. Oriya men's like to wear dhoti, kurta and gamusha as their traditional clothing.

 

DAZZLING ANDHRA PRADESH:

Andhra is very well known for its handwork "Ikat". Ikat handloom is often considered as the jewel in the crown Andhra culture. Women prefer to wear a silk saree with kanjivaram border. Due to the rich handloom culture women generally loves to wear handcrafted saree with royal material and intricate in it. Traditionally women prefer to wear "lehenga voni" that is a full length straight fit lehenga, a blouse and a dupatta. One end of dupatta is tucked in on side of waist and pinned on the left shoulder. Men’s prefer to wear a lungi  along with a shirt.


FANTASTIC KARNATAKA:

The culture in Karnataka revolves around various art likes folk music, dance, drama & literature. It is a treasure house of various dance forms. It is known for its natural beauty and unpopulated places. In Karnataka, silk is mainly produced in the Mysore district. Traditional Dress of the men of Karnataka is 'Panche' which is worn below the waist beneath a shirt. It is also known as Lungi, Dhoti or Veshti etc.

BENGAL TIGERS:

Bengal is rich in its cuisine clothes speech literature. Every fashion enthusiast would love to have Bengali saree in its collection to enrich their collection. Korial and garad is a saree worn on every traditional function. It is a white saree with a red border. This saree is hugely popular during durga puja and wedding function. Enhancing the look with a big red bindi. Other works include baluchari saree, dhakai jamdani, tant saree, tussar silk saree, Muslin cotton, Musheerabad silk saree, etc.
